Detailed Design Principles
These are the principles we kept in mind as we created each element in our feedback library.
Integrated
Information provided should be tailored to blind and low-vision needs and complement information gathered through existing methods.
Intuitive
Feedback provided should utilize inherent knowledge and skills learned through training to make feedback easy to learn, use, and recall.
Distinctive
Feedback provided through the Sensed system should feel familiar, distinguishable from each other, and easily differentiable from naturally occurring sounds.
Contextual
Feedback provided to users should utilize feedback modality, strength, and frequency to best support the scenario and users’ mental model.
Appropriate
Information should be transferred to the users in a timely manner and provide the adequate amount of detail.
Consistent
The means of transferring information should always be consistent with the type of information transferred.
Customizable
Users should be able to customize the feedback received through Sensed to suit their specific needs.
